About Me

Beginners Guide To Pool Care I felt like I had won the lottery the first time we were able to buy a house which had an inground pool. However, I quickly learned that I knew nothing about pool care. Several years later, I know how to care for our pool year round thanks to advice and help from my local pool contractor. I wanted to start this blog so that I could help other first-time pool owners with what to watch out for regarding their swimming pool. From signs of water leakage to how to winterize your pool, my blog posts are aimed to be educational and informative for pool care newbies.

It Goes Below The Surface: How To Tell When Your Pool Needs Resurfacing

Now that winter is here, you've got plenty of time to take care of the pool repairs. If you haven't resurfaced your pool in a while, now's the perfect time to schedule that project. You might think that you need to wait until summer to take care of that type of repair, but that's not the case. In fact, if you wait until summer to resurface your pool, you might miss out on an entire season of swimming. That's why you need to schedule that project during the winter. If you're not sure that your swimming pool needs to be resurfaced, read the list provided below. If you've experienced any of those issues with your swimming pool, you need to have it resurfaced as soon as possible.

Your Pool Needs a Style and Design Update

If your swimming pool is so old that the style and design now look dated, it's time for an update. You might think that you need to replace your entire pool, but that's not the case. You can actually update the style and design of your pool by having it resurfaced. In fact, when you choose to resurface your pool, you can start from scratch, without ditching the original pool. Your pool contractor can add fresh tile and a new color. They can even add different features to your pool. When the resurfacing project is done, your pool will look brand new.

Your Pool Looks Dirty After a Cleaning

If you have your pool cleaned at least once a month, but it still looks dirty when the pool cleaner leaves, it's time to invest in resurfacing. Over the years, your swimming pool can develop stains that can't be removed through normal cleaning procedures. Unfortunately, the stains may leave your pool looking unsightly and unpleasant. If you no longer want to swim in your pool because of how dirty it looks, it's time for resurfacing. Once your pool is resurfaced, the stains will no longer be present, which will make swimming much more enjoyable.

Your Pool Surface is Deteriorating

Finally, if the surface of your pool is deteriorating, don't wait to schedule the resurfacing. If you're not sure about the deterioration, you'll want to inspect your pool. Some of the signs of deterioration include cloudy water, cracks, and a chalky substance on the pool walls. Another way to identify deterioration is to feel the bottom of the pool. If the surface feels rough and uncomfortable on your feet, it's time to resurface your pool. To learn more, contact a pool resurfacing contractor.
